It isn’t any secret that fibromyalgia is a broad spectrum disorder that encompasses many symptoms. You may have been diagnosed with this disorder if you met the criteria for 11 of the 18 painful points on the body, or a diagnosis by exclusion.

There are numerous theories about the cause of fibromyalgia both neurological and metabolic. This is why there isn’t any singular test to identify fibromyalgia let alone the same treatment for two different individuals with this diagnosis. Consequently, we take a “no stone left unturned approach” whereby a neurologic and metabolic evaluation is done for each individual with fibromyalgia.

Common Fibromyalgia Symptoms

  • Aching
  • Disturbed sleep patterns
  • Fatigue Morning stiffness
  • Depression
  • Tender lymph nodes
  • Bowel or bladder disturbances
  • Sensitivity to heat or cold
  • Anxiety
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances
  • Dizziness
  • Heart palpitations
  • Impaired co-ordination
  • Environmental sensitivity and allergies
  • Recurrent headaches

Unique Assessment

A functional neurologic evaluation will check for the integrity of the nervous system by checking for such things as brain hemisphericity, autonomic responses and cerebellar function to name a few.
Metabolic testing can include:

  • Autoimmune evaluation
  • Complete blood panel review
  • Adrenal stress index
  • Immune panels
  • Hormone panels
  • Thyroid panel

Unique Treatment

  • Neurologic treatments can include exercise with oxygen therapy, unilateral stimulation to the brain (BBT) using visual, auditory, olfactory and tactile stimulation which are all painless and safe.
  • Metabolic treatments may require the use of specific natural supplements and dietary changes to address blood sugar regulation, gut function, and immune system imbalances.
  • It should be emphasized that most of our fibromyalgia patients undergo different forms of care even though they have been labeled with the same diagnosis.
  • Fibromyalgia does not get better by itself!
  • How has fibromyalgia affected you and your family? Are you fearful where you will be in 1, 3 or 5 years from now? Can you imagine how different your life would be if you were free from the burdens that fibromyalgia causes you and those close to you?
